[C II] 158 μm line surveys of typical or main-sequence star-forming galaxies as a function of redshift. The surveys included are: Herschel Space Observatory-based KINGFISH (Kennicutt et al. 2011) and SHINING (Graciá-Carpio et al. 2011; Herrera-Camus et al. 2018a,b), as well as ALMA-based ALPINE (Le Fèvre et al. 2020; Béthermin et al. 2020; Faisst et al. 2020a), REBELS (Bouwens et al. 2022), and CRISTAL (Zanella et al. 2018). The circles represent the average redshift and physical angular resolution (in kiloparsecs) achieved by each survey. The circle sizes indicate the number of galaxies detected in [C II] line emission in these surveys (also listed inside each circle). The gray boxes indicate the full range of redshift and angular resolution covered by each survey. The color bar illustrates the sensitivity achieved in 200 km s−1 channels, except for the Herschel-based surveys.

Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.

Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.

Initial download of the metrics may take a while.
