Note that the model results have been resampled in 0.2 Myr steps and we do not consider the evolutionary phases when the galaxies have a negligible amount of gas (Mg ≤ 10−3 Mdm), which allows us to have a well-defined Zg even in periods when no gas and metals are present in the galaxy (see Fig. 2).
