Temperature and metallicity profile of PLCKG287 compared to those of typical relaxed clusters. Left panel: temperature profiles measured for a sample of relaxed clusters presented by Vikhlinin et al. (2005). The temperatures are scaled to the cluster emission-weighted temperature excluding the central 70 kpc regions, ⟨kTX⟩. The profiles for all clusters are projected and scaled in radial units of the virial radius Rvir, as estimated from the relation (Evrard et al. 1996). The values measured for PLCKG287 are ⟨kTX⟩∼13 keV and Rvir ∼ 3.1 Mpc. The dotted cyan line indicates the region inside which there is a clear departure from the typical profile, with an opposite radial trend. We interpret this region as the former cool core; see text for details. Right panel: metallicity profile measured for PLCKG287 (red triangles) overlaid onto the metallicity profile observed for a sample of cool core clusters presented by De Grandi & Molendi (2001). The profiles for all clusters are projected and scaled in radial units of Rvir. H0 = 50 km s−1 Mpc−1, Ω = 1, Λ = 0 is assumed for this plot and the virial radius was estimated from the relation
(Evrard et al. 1996), resulting in ∼4.5 Mpc for PLCKG287.
