Molecular-to-atomic hydrogen mass ratio as a function of galaxy stellar mass for the TNG50 (circles) and FIRE-2 (stars) systems studied in this work. All masses are computed within 100 kpc from the galaxy centre. Different H2/H I partition recipes are shown with different colours: green for Gnedin & Kravtsov (2011, GK11), red for Krumholz (2013, K13), and blue for Blitz & Rosolowsky (2006, BR06). The recipe of BR06 is the one that best reproduces the observational values from the xGASS Survey (Catinella et al. 2018), which are represented here by the shaded region.
