ALMOND and EMPIRE on the star-forming main sequence (SFMS) of galaxies. Grey shows all galaxies from the PHANGS–ALMA survey (Leroy et al. 2021b). Red and blue markers present galaxies from the EMPIRE (Jiménez-Donaire et al. 2019) and ALMOND surveys (Neumann et al. 2023a), respectively, with the same SFR calibration adopted across the merged sample. Contours indicate 25, 50, and 75 percentile areas of the respective samples. The solid black line marks the star-forming main sequence from z0MGS (Leroy et al. 2019). The black squares and crosses indicate the presence of a bar or AGN in the respective galaxy, taken from Table E.1.
