Mask used in the application of Eq. 27 to 30 GHz data (Ecliptic coordinates). The mask hides point sources and the strong emission of the Galactic plane. What is left is that part of the sky where the only significant emissions are the CMB dipole and the CMB itself. Similar masks have been used for 44 and 70 GHz data.
