LIDA: The Leiden Ice Database for Astrochemistry

by W.R.M. Rocha, M.G. Rachid, B. Olsthoorn, et al. 2022, A&A, 668, A63 alt

The Leiden Ice Database for Astrochemistry (LIDA) has provided infrared spectra of astrophysical ice analogs for over 20 years, and has been fully upgraded coinciding with the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope. Rocha and collaborators describe the main features of the upgraded database in their paper in terms of the user interface, search capabilities, and data visualization. They also describe the experimental techniques used to measure the data available, which include over 1100 infrared spectra of ice samples in astrophysically relevant conditions and the ultraviolet/vis and mid-infrared refractive index of water at different temperatures. Two additional online tools allow the user to create synthetic spectra of ices towards protostars and to calculate mid-infrared refractive index values.
