The dramatic change of the fossil magnetic field of HD 190073: evidence of the birth of the convective core in a Herbig star ?

The authors present spectropolarimatric observations of the Herbig Ae/Be star HD 190073. The star showed a stable dipole field for several years, but new observations indicate a sudden change of configuration - not seen before in intermediate or high-mass stars. The authors propose that this may be the result of the onset of a dynamo field in the convective core.
