On the white dwarf cooling sequence with extremely large telescopes
White dwarfs have become important tools for determining age and distance of globular clusters. The bottom of the white dwarf cooling sequence in globular clusters is still beyond the reach of the current generation of telescopes and near-infrared detectors, but this will change with the next generation of extremely large telescopes. The authors present theoretical calculations and features in the color-magnitude diagram, which are potentially useful tools for future age and distance work.
