Dependence of the kinetic and magnetic energy densities on Re. In the top panel, we show E kin tot $ E_{\mathrm{kin}}^{\mathrm{tot}} $ (black), which is composed of E kin flu $ E_{\mathrm{kin}}^{\mathrm{flu}} $ (red), E kin dif $ E_{\mathrm{kin}}^{\mathrm{dif}} $ (blue), and E kin mer $ E_{\mathrm{kin}}^{\mathrm{mer}} $ (purple) for H runs (dashed), M runs (solid), and S runs (dotted). In the bottom panel, we show E mag tot $ E_{\mathrm{mag}}^{\mathrm{tot}} $ (black) composed of E mag flu $ E_{\mathrm{mag}}^{\mathrm{flu}} $ (red), E mag tor $ E_{\mathrm{mag}}^{\mathrm{tor}} $ (blue), and E mag pol $ E_{\mathrm{mag}}^{\mathrm{pol}} $ (purple). E mag M = E mag tor + E mag pol $ E_{\mathrm{mag}}^{\mathrm{M}}=E_{\mathrm{mag}}^{\mathrm{tor}} + E_{\mathrm{mag}}^{\mathrm{pol}} $ is the energy density of the mean magnetic field (yellow) (see Eqs. (8)–(11) for definitions). The lower mean-field energy densities for Re ∼ 530 indicate Run 4M2, which has been started from Run S4 and is possibly not yet saturated, hence the bifurcation.

Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.

Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.

Initial download of the metrics may take a while.
