Integrated H I map of ESO 137-001. The blue contours are at H I column densities of 2.3, 4.6, 9.2, 18.4 × 1019 atoms/cm2 and the blue ellipse denotes the FWHM beam size of 22″ × 16″ (PA = 150°). The orange contour represents the galaxy’s optical disc at the 22 mag arcsec2 isophote in the r-band (Fossati et al. 2016). The grey contour outlines a model H I disc defined at the sensitivity limit of our observations, NHI = 2.3 × 1019 atoms/cm2 and the red ellipse delineates the H I stripping radius (see Sect. 3.2).
