Such DIB and dust density scale-heights perpendicular to the Galactic (XY) plane were derived by fitting a Gaussian function to the vertical (Z) distribution of DIBs and dust, respectively. The centroid of the Gaussian is fixed to Z_max, the distance above and below the Galactic plane with the highest dust density. See text for exclusion of spurious results.
