Schematic picture of radiation generated by a burst and/or a wind from a magnetar interacting with a main sequence star in a binary system. The persistent preburst radiation is generated by a strong magnetar wind heating a companion star, or by the bow shock from a weak magnetar wind interacting with a stellar wind from a companion star. The radiation from the transient is generated by the re-emission process from the companion star heated by a magnetar burst (e.g., an FRB, an MSB, and/or an MGF).
