Representative VLT/X-shooter GRB afterglow spectrum of GRB 161023A (de Ugarte Postigo et al. 2018). The observed spectrum is shown in black, the solid red line represents the best-fit model of the marked absorption features. The low-ion Fe II and Si II are used to improve the modelling of the velocity components and line broadening of the O Iλ1302, O I* λ1304 and O I** λ1306 line complexes.
