Estimates of the realization-specific quadrupole amplitude of our universe, σ2, from WMAP, Planck, and BEYONDPLANCK. The gray background indicate PTEs relative to the best-fit Planck 2018 ΛCDM model, and the color of the dots indicate the sky fraction used by the respective analysis. The radius of the dots correspond to the diagonal Fisher matrix uncertainty reported by Hinshaw et al. (2013), and provides a very naive noise-only estimate.
