Normalised scattering phase functions for bound-electron scattering in cold gas, at a photon energy of 3.3 keV. At this photon energy, bound-Compton scattering and Rayleigh scattering are equally important, see Fig. 4. The free-electron phase function at 3.3 keV is shown in grey for comparison.
