Temperature residuals for various degrees of discretization of the solar limb darkening effect with respect to a 200-ring benchmark model. The previous implementation (lunar case) used a discretization of five rings, which shows large residuals for temperatures at Mercury, i.e., >2 K. At a discretization of 30 rings, residuals are below ≈0.5 K, which was adopted for this study.
