Radio spectral index as a function of the SFR surface density . Data points are coloured according to the radius of the star-forming disc r⋆. The radio spectral index depends only weakly on ΣSFR but significantly on r⋆ (compare with Fig. 5b). This is in agreement with the escape of CREs by advection in a wind (see Eq. (13)).
