Predicted reflected light relative to the star as a function of phase for Rayleigh and isotropic scattering in the CHEOPS photometric band from HD 209458 b, computed using the formulation in Heng et al. (2021). The single-scattering albedos ω were 0.45 for Rayleigh scattering and 0.55 for isotropic scattering. While the phase curve itself should be detectable with CHEOPS, it will be challenging to distinguish between the two scattering laws.
