Eight uncorrected SDSS BOSS observations of the quasar J022836.08+000939.2 (Thing ID = 97003678) in DR13, smoothed by a box-car filter of 10 pixels in width. The quasar was observed between September 2011 and October 2013. The spectral shape of the quasar continuum is seen to vary for different observations. If spectral index and/or absolute flux do not change, this variation probably occurs due to a fibre positioning offset, as first noted by Lee et al. (2013) and discussed in this paper in Sect. 2. The numbers in the legend refer to the observations listed in Table 2.
