ATCA radio-continuum 5.5 GHz contours of the field of GRB 050709, overlaid on the HST image. It shows faint extended emission in the eastern part of the galaxy. Contour levels (in blue) start at three times the image 1σrms of 5.3 μJy beam−1 and continue in steps of 0.5σrms. In addition, we indicate the optical AG and the redshifts for some objects as they follow from the VLT/MUSE data (see Sect. 3.4). The galaxy ∼13 arcsec northeast of the GRB host is a morphologically disturbed LIRG at z = 0.481 (GALEXASC J230127.17–385825.6). The beam is shown in black.
