Notes.
The expected rate of total GW events is taken from Abbott et al. (2018) and values for joint events are derived using our fiducial population model. The uncertainties here are due to the uncertainty regarding the merger rate in the local Universe derived from GW observations of the LVC O1 and O2 runs. The additional uncertainties related to the population model are discussed in Sect. 4.2.
