Predicted (green circles) and observed median (black squares) values of the bulge-to-total light ratio (top), Sérsic index (middle), and light concentration (bottom) for galaxies more massive than 1010 M⊙. The predicted values are based on a simple model (see Sect. 6.1) that predicts stellar mass or environmental dependence of any property based on the fractions of quiescent and star-forming galaxies at different stellar masses and in different environments. We find a good agreement between predicted and observed values, indicating that the perceived effects of galaxy structure and morphology on stellar mass and environment are tightly correlated with the fraction of star-forming and quiescent populations in each bin.
