Temperature profiles of shocks from 5 to 20 km s−1 (from top to bottom panels) propagating in media with density ranging from 102 to 105 cm−3 (from left to right panels) and illuminated by a UV radiation field ranging from 10−1 to 104 (from colder to warmer pre-shock conditions on each panel), assuming a buffer visual extinction (top 12 panels) and 10−1 (bottom 12 panels). All other parameters are set to their standard values (see Table 1). Models run with and without taking the UV pumping of the rovibrational levels of H2 into account are shown in dashed and solid curves, respectively.
