for three non-overlapping M dwarf mass bins. The 403 M dwarfs used in the histograms divide into 138 that are less massive than 0.4 M⊙, 206 with masses between 0.4 M⊙ and 0.6 M⊙, and 59 above 0.6 M⊙. Less massive M dwarfs are, on average, less active.
