Example of NLTE spectrum synthesis for the Sun. The SME calculations used departure coefficients for sodium precomputed for the MARCS atmosphere grid and interpolated to the solar T_eff, log g, and [m/H]. The MULTI calculation was done separately for each sodium line using a MARCS model for the Sun. For illustration we also include the observed solar flux spectrum and the SME LTE synthesis. The insert shows a magnified view of the core of the 5890 Å line.
