Evolution of the absolute W2 magnitude is shown for masses between 1 and 10 M_Jup (COND models; Baraffe et al. 2003). Each mass track is labeled with the T_eff/log g pair values (K, cm s^-2) corresponding to the different ages tabulated in the models. The J0855–0714 absolute W2 magnitude is bracketed by the two horizontal red lines (1σ). The blue shaded area indicates the most likely position of J0855–0714 based on its high surface gravity [log g ⪆ 3.5 (cm s^-2)].
