Temperature at the inner edge of dust shells of AGB stars in the Small and Large Magellanic clouds with estimated errors of the temperature determination (data from Groenewegen et al. 2009). This corresponds to the temperature where massive silicate dust condensation commences in the outflow. The data are plotted against the derived mass-loss rate. Dotted line with open circles denotes the temperature at the sonic point of the models from Table 1.
