Volume 478-1 (January IV 2008)
In section 5. Galactic structure, stellar clusters and populations “Intermediate to low-mass stellar content of Westerlund 1”, by W. Brandner, J. S. Clark, A. Stolte, R. Waters, I. Negueruela, and S. P. Goodwin, A&A 478, p. 137 Brandner et al. present new observations of the young (3 Myr) cluster Westerlund 1, which is among the most massive clusters in our Galaxy and, as such, very interesting for comparing with extragalactic star formation. They find that at present the mass of Westerlund 1 is between 20000 and 45000 solar masses, or roughly ten times the well-studied Orion Nebular cluster. |
