Schematic cross-sectional view of the blocking mechanism in high-inclination LMXB systems. Left panel: Thin accretion disk configuration. Right panel: Thick-disk geometry. Both show a neutron star viewed by a distant observer at inclination angle θin, measured from the disk normal. The blocking factor ℬ represents the fraction of the neutron star’s photosphere obscured, which varies with θin and the photospheric radius Rph. Diagrams are not to scale for clarity; the actual disks extend radially much farther.
