Plot showing the morphological features of the H II region IC 1396. The background colour scale represents the WISE 22 μm image of the IC 1396 complex. The position of the central exciting star(s) HD 206267 is denoted by a white cross mark (×). The major globules identified by Sugitani et al. (1991) are indicated by blue ‘+’ symbols along with their respective names. The dashed white circle with a radius of 1.5, centred at α = 21: 40: 39.28 and δ = +57 : 49 : 15.51 (highlighted as a magenta ‘+’ mark), fully encompasses the star-forming complex and serves as the region of interest for this study. The green circles represent the two fields observed with Subaru-HSC, each having a radius of 0.75. A scale bar of 10 pc is provided in the top-left corner.
