Comparison between the total ejected mass derived from F ¯ r 2 $ \mathcal{\bar{F}}_{r_2} $ and x1 for the cosmology sub-sample (which contains the 91T-like SNe Ia) as well as the 91bg-like SN Ia population. The black line is the line of equality. The median total ejected mass calculated from F ¯ r 2 $ \mathcal{\bar{F}}_{r_2} $ is 1.3  ±  0.3 M and the median when calculated from x1 is 1.2  ±  0.2 M. We find a range of 0.64–1.91 M for Mej for the normal SNe Ia in the cosmological sample, ignoring the single outlier at 2.24 M.
