Notes. Best-fit results of the broken power-law fit to the surface brightness profiles shown in Fig. 2. The north-south profiles are centered at the core of Hercules A, while the east-west profiles are centered at the center of the corresponding radio lobe. (1) Name of the edge; (2 – 3) azimuthal limits of the sector used to extract the profile; (4) density jump; (5) distance of the discontinuity from the center of the profile; (6) normalization; (7) index of the inner (downstream) power law; (8) index of the outer (upstream) power law; (9) radius of the lobe-related emission; (10) emission per unit volume of the lobe related emission (Eq. (2)); (11) reduced χ2 (d.o.f.); (12) Mach number, computed from the density jump using Eq. (1).

Reported distances are measured along the minor axis of the elliptical sectors with ellipticity 1.75 and position angle 10° shown in Fig. 2 (note that surface brightness profiles are plotted along the major axis).
