Photographs of the disconnection event in the tail of comet C/1908 R1 from the night of 30 September–1 October 1908 by August Kopff at 20h19 (left), 22h39 (middle), and 00h59 (right). The digitized glass plate archives were made available by the Heidelberg-Konigstuhl Observatory in Germany.
