Asteroseismology provides a fountain of opportunities for astrophysics. Some research areas benefitting from it are indicated, notably exoplanetary science, archaeological studies of the Milky Way and Magellanic Clouds, stellar evolution theory of single and binary stars, stellar populations and clusters, technology development and instrument calibration, and gravitational wave and theoretical physics, among others. Each of these topics is discussed in this review, highlighting the breadth and impact of asteroseismology. The figure was designed by Conny Aerts and implemented by Clio Gielen.
