Same as Fig. 1, except now for the R_h = ct cosmology and a cutoff M_UV = −14.6. The ${\chi }_{\text{d}.\text{o}.\text{f}.}^2$ for the x_HI fit is 1.1. The reionization history in this model is thus fully consistent with the UV irradiation of the early Universe by the newly discovered JWST galaxies, and the corresponding CMB optical depth falls within ∼1σ of its measured value even though, in principle, the optimized cosmological parameters in this model need not be identical to those inferred for ΛCDM.
