Table 2

Resolution overview of M3DIS solar models.

Nx × Ny × Nz (HD) Nz (RT) Δz (RT) NCPU
(km) (h)
A low 180 × 180 × 90 90 25.6 226
B interm. 180 × 180 × 90 180 12.8 576
C very high(*) 390 × 390 × 195 390 5.9 15 206
D high (ref.) 300 × 300 × 150 300 7.7 5242

Notes. For all models the number of grid points in each dimension (Nx, Ny, Nz), as well as the vertical grid spacing (Δz) and required CPU time (NCPU) is shown. The physical size of the box in all simulations is 4.6 × 4.6 × 2.3 Mm. The (x, y) resolution of the radiative transfer (RT) solver is the same as that for the hydrodynamic (HD) solver, and is not shown here to avoid redundancy. See text. (*)Due to the high resolution of this model, the stellar time it evolved within 24 h wall-clock time is reduced compared to models A, B, and D.

Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.

Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.
