Bayesian model comparison between cloudfree and cloudy retrievals, corresponding to the first step of the schematic shown in Fig. 2. The Bayesian evidence relative to the cloudfree model is computed and its natural logarithm is displayed. For all four JWST instruments, there are significant increases in the Bayesian evidence when cloudy models are used to fit the spectra.
