Schematic of the QUBIC instrument, showing the principle of BI. The sky signal is received by an array of back-to-back horns and reimaged onto the bolometric focal planes, where the field interferes additively. A polarizer and a rotating half-wave plate make the instrument sensitive to linear polarization.
