Curve of growth of 26 Fe II lines rising from low energy levels (0–4500 K, green) and 15 lines rising from high energy levels (~12 000 K. blue) for the December 6, 1997 comet in the [+25, +40] km s−1 RV range. While both sets of lines provide very similar values for the average size of the absorbing cloud (~38%), the lines rising from the ground terms saturate a lot quicker.
