Results of the background-removal process on a raw image of Io and Jupiter from 4 December 2014. The apparent size of Io is augmented in the images by the overdensity of sodium near the moon. In all images, a square region absent of any bodies has been highlighted to show the effect of the background-removal process on the background pattern. The minimum, maximum, and mean pixel values of this square region have been annotated to one side.
