Galactocentric cylindrical coordinates and the heliocentric Cartesian coordinates. The z (galactocentric) and Z (heliocentric) coordinates are almost perpendicular to the plane of the figure. The Sun is located at (R, ϕ, z) = (8000 pc, 180° ,14 pc), and the Galactic center is located at (X, Y, Z) = (8000 pc, 0 pc, 0 pc).
