Table 1.
Expected numbers of black hole binaries detectable by the SKA PTA at the median redshift of z ∼ 6.8, along with their galaxy counterparts, detectable by LSST.
MBH | ϕBHB, gw (cMpc−3) | dNBHB, gw/dlog10MBH | ngal, LSST (deg−2) |
---|---|---|---|
109 M⊙ | 4.2 × 10−4 | 1.0 × 108 | ∼3600 |
1010 M⊙ | 1.54 × 10−5 | 2.4 × 106 | ∼100 |
Notes. The first column shows the mass of the primary black hole. The second column indicates the number of binaries expected per unit comoving volume, which is obtained from Eq. (13) for each of the primary black hole masses in Col. 1. The third column shows the total number of detectable binaries in the full sky over a redshift interval 6 < z < 7.1 per unit logarithmic range of black hole mass. The last column indicates the number of electromagnetic counterpart galaxies expected by LSST per square degree of sky area (LSST Science Collaboration 2009).
