Throughput loss for Gaia’s telescopes since the beginning of operations. Initially, a rapid loss of 0.06 mag day−1 was observed. A total of six decontaminations (indicated by vertical lines) were required over 2.6 yr to reach a nearly stable state. Minor discontinuities in the data are artefacts due to an incremental calibration strategy.
