Profiles of the simulated sources 𝒮ℳj and 𝒮ℳjk±, defined as the convolved spherical models ℳj added to the flat, convex, and concave backgrounds (Eq. (6)). For an illustration, the profiles correspond to three angular resolutions Oj = {4,32, 256}″ (Eq. (1)) and the background size factor ƒk = 1.54 (Eq. (4)). The profiles completely overlap with each other at Oj = 256″.
