Integrated line-of-sight entropy perturbations after some initial evolution of the random cube model with a top-down view, using the same plotting technique as, e.g., Fig. 6. We observe that, despite a lack of spherical symmetry upon initialization, a vortex ring as approximately described in Sect. 2 spontaneously forms, albeit retaining some of the stochasticity from the initial conditions.
