Two-part spatial configuration used in the galaxy-in-a-box model mapped onto the image of M 51 from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope (credit: NASA, ESA, S. Beckwith (STScI) and the Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA)). The M 51 image was scaled to fit within the spatial size settings used in the model. The white squares represent the location of stellar clusters along the spiral arms.
