[O II]/Hα versus metallicity for VIPERS, estimated with the R₂₃ calibrations of Tremonti et al. (2004; left), Pilyugin (2001; middle), and McGaugh (1991; right). Compared to Z94, there is a good agreement with Tremonti et al. (2004) and McGaugh (1991; mean difference of 0.03 and 0.06 dex) but above the typical uncertainty for metallicity based on R₂₃ (0.1 dex) for McGaugh (1991; mean difference of 0.3 dex).
