Distribution of stellar proper motions across the LMC from the Gaia EDR3 sample. Each vector represents the median proper motion of at least a few hundred stars. The central vector indicates the bulk motion at the centre of the GalMod model, which was used to create the residual map. The central regions that are characterised by a high stellar density and influenced by crowding issues are not analysed in this study.
