Relative velocities of identified companions of a sample of K-type Sco-Cen members. We show the ratio of the differential projected velocities vproj to the maximum velocity that allows a gravitationally bound system vmax as defined in Eq. (6). This parameter is a measure of whether our preselected candidate companions are part of a binary system; a value greater than unity renders this scenario as unlikely. These two different regimes are separated by the dashed red line. The colors of the markers indicate the mass of the corresponding candidate companion. To focus primarily on the sub-stellar objects in our sample the color bar is cut off at masses that are higher than 100 MJup. Markers with a black outline refer to members of the YSES subsample and TYC 8252-533-1 B is highlighted by the star.
